America Supports You: Military amputees to get free service dogs
Military amputees at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. will be able to obtain service dogs to help them become more mobile and independent, according to the American Forces Press Service. The dogs, provided by the Guide Dog Foundation, are trained to help soldiers balance as they learn to walk with artifical limbs, to retrieve dropped items, and in some cases, to serve as a brace for soldiers to lifr themselves.
